Sooooooo much about Sunday's Chisago Lakes Triathlon(s) was impressive, and not just basic stuff, like DKT's sub-4 hour winning time, or Patrick Parish's and Jenny Wilcox's crushings of the race records in the sprint. That's really good stuff, though.
What else was there to be impressed with then, you ask?
How about how downright maturishly Ross Weinzierl and Joanna Hall handled their misfortunes. Ross was kicking tush when he was forced to DNF. How did he handle it? With an understanding shrug of the shoulders, a big smile--which is a ubiquitous part of his extroverted signature--and the clear understanding that there will be other opportunities.
You thoroughly impressed us, Ross. (See photo on next page. Ross is the tall smiley guy on the left.)
Poor pretty Joanna. Two flats and more than a half hour of..

What do you know about Fergus Falls, Minnesota?
Not much, huh?
We know lotsa stuff about it. It's a town. It's in Minnesota and the Hoot Lake Triathlon (photo) is there. Or somewhere near there?
What else?
Did we say mention that it's somewhere in Minnesota? And that it's a town?
Realizing that we don't know too darn much about Fergus Falls, we Googled it. Here's some totally cool historical stuff we found:
"In 1857, Wiley Cloversheets * was sent by his employer, Langford Fergus* , to locate a site for a new community. Along the way he...

The Chisago Lakes Half and Sprint was ginormous, drawing more than 1600 participants. The day was clear and and sunny relatively windless and waited until most of the half racers had de-biked before it became truly calefacient, which is a pedantic way to say "hot." The temps never out-calefaciented the competition, however. The talent pool was deep and the rivalries were almost incendiary. DKT and Madison, Wisconsin's Jackie Arendt, who is arguably the premier female amateur long distance in the U.S. right now, led the way in the half. Patrick Parish and Jenny Wilcox destroyed the sprint course records. RESULTS
To be continued...Hey click on "Read More" and check out the picture we planned to post in the event that 2009 CL-Half winner Heather Haviland had raced today. It's totally cool. She's doing bike presses. She didn't race today because she had a "thing" she had to do...

Apple Valley's Jen Lenarz turned in the fastest half IM performance of her career at Door County last weekend. Her 4:56:39 landed her in 7th place among a very strong women's elite field. Her time was 6:24 faster than her previous half best, which was turned in a runner-up effort at Liberty last month..
Highlights Aplenty..

There were highlights aplenty at the historic 25th edition of the Heart of the Lakes Triathlon / Minnesota State Triathlon Championship in pastoral Annandale yesterday. Some, like Jan Guenther winning for the ninth time, were BIGGIES, and others, like the blue toenailed Guenther (yes, she was unshod at the time) doing the "Pee Pee Dance" in the porta-john line before the event,
