Let 'Em Pass....

ED. Elite Grand Master JEFF GILMER posted some important words on Facebook recently. It's a brief lesson on "perspective."

By Jeff Gilmer

August 2020 was my last Triathlon, where during the end of the run I ruptured my Achilles Tendon. One week later was surgery, then 3 months on crutches, then 3 months of PT....

The last week of January my PT and Doc gave me the OK to start training again on February 1st. Which consisted of a jog/walk routine, 3 min walk, 2 min jog, repeat 3 times. It has now been 10 weeks, and I am still in the jog/walk pattern, slowly but surely getting more endurance.

Yesterday (April 18) was my first Tri for 2021. The Lake Murray Sprint in South Carolina. A great venue, lots of fantastic athletes and friends. My goal was to participate and have fun knowing I would be walking most of the run, my coaches comment "You will not go after anyone who goes past you!!!! It was repeated in my brain many times yesterday as I was watched athletes pass me while walking on the run. Thank goodness a Triathlon has a swim and bike as well.
